and I keep talking about our project, how's it's going to be an illustrated book and all, we've asked your help to get it printed you've seen what it looks like, so why not show you part of the story too?
"Despite the fact that he had been constantly watching her, at first Eros had been reluctant to watch her bathe. It would have been easy, but ogling her without her permission had felt wrong.
Eventually he had gotten over his shyness, but so far he had only seen her naked back.
Usually it was him, Psyche, and his governess, who had appointed herself as Psyche’s maid the moment the later had set foot in this palace.
Needless to say, his governess, had been extremely amused with his behaviour; every time she saw him, she always muttered things like “coward” or “seems like no arrows were needed here” just to get a rise out of him.
And it worked every time; he always blushed and stuttered because deep down inside he knew she was right. He, the one who shot arrows at people to make them fall in love, had not needed one.
He sighed; that woman was very lucky he loved her to bits.
“May I ask you a question?” Psyche asked his governess, bringing him out of his reverie.
“Of course.” She responded.
“My husband, is he blond?”
The governess looked at him and he nodded.
“He is, yes; why are you asking my lady?”
“I think I saw someone swimming in the lake earlier today.”
She was on her balcony, when she spotted someone swimming in the nearby lake.
At first she thought her eyes were playing tricks on her; but when she took a second look, the stranger was still there.
She ran down there as quickly as possible then, but she had only managed to get a glimpse of his backside, before he had disappeared into thin air.
Needless to say, she had been extremely disappointed.
“What was he like?”
“Well, I only saw his backside, but he seemed fairly young; and rather well-built too.”
His governess gave him an amused smile and he felt his face grow hot.
“Blond, young, well-built.” She said. “That sounds like him, yes.”
“Have you been working here for long?”
“I’ve been in this house since the day he was born; I used to be his governess.”
Psyche perked up at the news. The voice didn’t sound old, so her husband couldn’t be old either.
“He’s a good man. And very handsome too.” The governess added playfully, watching as Psyche blushed at her words.
“Why hasn’t he shown himself yet?” She asked timidly.
His governess raised her eyebrows at Eros, silently challenging him; all colour drained from his face.
“I am afraid I cannot answer that for him my lady. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ll leave you to bathe in peace.”
Psyche nodded absently and the governess left, leaving them alone.
She undressed and went about her business; from where he was seated, Eros could only see her back, but he was pleased to notice that she seemed at ease.
He smiled, but his smile soon turned into a frown, as he remembered the task at hand.
He was a skilled archer, but lately he kept missing his target. He had already checked his bow, and it was working properly, so now it was time to check his arrows too.
He emptied his quiver and started inspecting the arrows; those seemed fine too; properly balanced and sharp.
He sighed; he was the problem. He couldn’t focus on anything but Psyche lately.
A loud crashing sound caused them both to jump. Eros, startled, dropped the arrow he was holding, prickling himself close to the knee.
Inwardly, he cursed. The God of Love, wounded by his own weapon. He was a disgrace; he should turn in his bow and arrows to Aphrodite and call it quits.
And then, he looked up and saw Psyche. Instantly, butterflies broke out in his stomach. The feeling definitely wasn’t new, but it had never been so intense before.
That’s what his arrows did?
When, they had heard the crash, Psyche had hastily covered herself with the cloth she used to dry herself off, in case someone walked in.
Once she was sure no one was going to disturb her, she lowered the cloth to the ground, oblivious to his presence.
His jaw dropped; she was perfect! And tonight she would officially become his wife!"
