my dear dear friend wrote this wonderful piece for this drawing:

Charlotte saw the two men leaving the dark alley she had fled from only a couple of minutes earlier.

Everything was a bit blurry in her mind. The two men having her cornered, then Will showing up out of nowhere and starting a fight with them, his shouts of “Charlotte, leave!"

She shook her head. Now it was not a good time to lose her head. She had to keep calm and go back and find Will.

Once she was certain they were not going to return, she came out of her hiding place and ran to back to the alley, only to find Will lying unconscious to the ground.

Tears sprang to her eyes at the sight before her. Will was awfully pale and he did not seem to be breathing.

She dropped to her knees next to his and she placed a hand over his heart. His heart was beating steadily beneath her fingers. A sight of relief escaped her lips as the tears ran freely down her cheeks.

“I thought I told you to leave.” Will said tiredly as he opened his eyes and spotted Charlotte hovering over him. He tried to move and winced at the pain that cursed through his body.

“Easy there.” Charlotte told him softly, as she carefully helped him to a sitting position.

Then she helped him to a reclining position, his back supported by the wall behind them.

He closed his eyes again.

“Are you alright?” He asked.

“I am fine, thanks to you.” She replied and the gratitude was evident in her voice.

Her hand went to his cheek, her fingertips lightly tracing a bruise that was starting to form. They felt pleasantly cool against his skin.

He opened his eyes again and took a good look at her.

“You look awfully distraught for someone who doesn’t like me.”

“You are not very fond of me either but that didn’t stop you from defending me earlier.”

Will tried to smile but failed.

“Do you think you can stand? So we can walk to Commercial Street and find a carriage to take you home.”

“My driver is supposed to wait for me opposite St. Mary’s Chapel.”
Charlotte nodded.

With Charlotte’s help, he slowly rose to his feet. Immediately, he reached for the wall to steady himself.

“I think it would be best if you leaned on me until we get there.”
Charlotte said, placing her right arm around Will’s waist and with her free hand she brought his left around her shoulders, so she was supporting most of his weight. “Are we good to go?”

Will nodded and they started their journey in silence.

Once Will’s driver spotted them, he climbed off the driver’s seat and along with Charlotte helped Will into the carriage.

Charlotte was standing at the carriage’s entrance.

“Thank you.” She told Will.

“Please be careful on your way home.”

Charlotte nodded and closed the door.

As she stood there, watching the carriage fading away in the distance, she realised she liked Will more than she had originally thought.
